Getting to know: Lemon Verbena

Lemon verbena is a beautiful fragrant herb, native to Argentina and Chile with a multitude of medicinal properties. It has been used as a medicinal plant for centuries to stop muscle spasms, as a fever reducer, sedative and for indigestion issues.

Lemon verbena has mild antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and expectorant properties and is is excellent for the digestive tract as it is known to be good for relieving nausea, cramps, bloating, indigestion, heartburn, flatulence, diarrhea, Crohn's disease, colitis, celiac disease, stomach or gastro-intestinal spasms, and colon irritability.

It has been shown to burn fat, break down cellulite, and regulate the metabolism which makes it a great addition to a weight loss protocol.


Lemon verbena has been shown to be effective as a natural remedy for Candida as it contains powerful anti-fungal properties.

People suffering from sciatica, nervous twitches and ticks, and any stress related or nervous system disorders as well as depression and anxiety, find taking lemon verbena to be very helpful. This herb is also known to help relax the nerves and muscles, calm the mind and provide a general overall feeling of peace.
